Free Tax Preparation Assistance at Chinn Park Library – Appointments through April 15

The safety and health of all Tax Aide volunteers and clients is critical.
Tax return preparation will only be provided to those clients who are willing to abide by these guidelines:
All tax preparation will be done via appointments only.
Walk-in service will not be provided due to COVID-19.
Masks must be worn by anyone entering the library for tax preparation services.
Clients will not be allowed to remain in the Community Room while the returns are prepared.
How to make an appointment
Call: 571-316-0493 — and clearly state:
o Your Name,
o Phone number, and
o Preferred appointment times
A tax counselor will return your call to schedule the appointment. The phone number appearing on your phone will be the 571 number shown above. Please answer.
Hours of Operation
Tax preparation will occur on: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM to 2 PM from February 23 – April 15, and
Hours and dates may change, depending on availability of the Chinn Park Library Community Room.
Before your appointment
You must complete the intake/interview Form 13614-C before your appointment. (This is the form all clients have prepared in prior years at TaxAide at Chinn Park.)
The form is available at Chinn outside the library and is located in the shelving to the right as you enter the library,

What to bring to your appointment
Clients must bring the following items to their appointments:
o tax documents (including their prior year return),
o taxpayer identification, and
o the completed intake/interview form (Form 13614-C).
What will happen at your appointment
Upon check-in, these documents will be placed in an AARP Tax-Aide envelope, and given to a tax counselor for preparation of your federal and state returns.
Clients will be asked to return to their vehicles during tax return preparation.
You may be contacted with questions at the phone number provided on the intake/interview form.
If you do NOT have a cell phone, please so indicate when checking in for your appointment.
Clients who are severely handicapped, or do not have a vehicle to return to, will be allowed to remain in the library and will be seated at an area immediately outside the Community Room.
If this is your initial visit to Tax-Aide at Chinn, you must provide social security cards for yourselves as well as for any dependents.
If you have had your returns prepared at Chinn in the past, a social security card must be provided for any new dependent.
After the returns are completed, they will be quality reviewed by another tax counselor and printed.
The client will then be contacted and asked to return to the library to receive their tax return package.
A tax counselor will review the return with the client and answer any questions.
The client will sign Form 8879 to allow us to electronically file the returns.
All return preparation documents will be returned to the client. No documents will be retained by the AARP Tax-Aide staff.
