The event will take place at the Prince William Stadium parking lot\, 7 County Complex Court\, Woodbridge. \nThis event is for residents only; no business or commercial patrons are allowed. Only confidential documents such as bank statements and tax returns will be accepted. Removal of regular-sized paper clips and staples is not required. All non-confidential documents\, such as junk mail\, should be recycled with curbside recycling collection\, the Landfill or Compost Facility customer convenience center\, or recycling drop-off trailer. \nResidents may bring up to the equivalent of four boxes no bigger than 18 inches by 12 inches by 15 inches of paper for shredding on-site at no charge. \nClick here for more details.

DESCRIPTION:Bike to Work Day\, a regional event promoting the benefits of commuting by bicycle\, marks its 25th anniversary in Prince William County this year. The free event is scheduled for Friday\, May 15. \nLast year’s event drew 12\,777 riders in Maryland\, the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia\, including 185 participants in the Prince William area\, said Prince William County Department of Transportation Principal Planner Bryce Barrett. \n“May is nationally recognized as Bike Month\, with jurisdictions around the country promoting the benefits of improved health and wellness\, reduced traffic congestion and lower emissions when residents use bicycles for transportation and recreation\,” Barrett said. \nNine pit stops will be available across the greater Prince William area on Bike to Work Day: \n\nGeorge Mason University\, Manassas Campus – Freedom Center and University Boulevards – 6:30-9:30 a.m.\n\n\nManassas VRE Station – 9431 West Street – 6-9 a.m.\n\n\nManassas Park VRE Station – 9300 Manassas Drive – 6-9 a.m.\n\n\nKelly Leadership Center – 14715 Bristow Road – 6-9 a.m.\n\n\nChinn Aquatics & Fitness Center – 13025 Chinn Park Drive – 6-9 a.m.\n\n\nWoodbridge VRE Station – 1040 Express Way – 6-9 a.m.\n\n\nRippon Landing VRE Station – 15511 Farm Creek Drive – 6-9 a.m.\n\n\nJeff Simpson Community & Cultural Arts Center – 17755 Main Street in Dumfries – 7:30 -9:30 a.m.\n\n\nTackett’s Mill – Tackett’s Mill Drive and Minnieville Road – 6-9 a.m.\n\nAll registered riders will receive a free T-shirt and are entered into a raffle to win a bicycle. The Prince William County Department of Transportation (PWCDOT) will also provide free water bottles and other giveaways to support the event. \nLocal transit users interested in participating are reminded that bicycle racks are available on all OmniRide Local and OmniRide East-West Express buses\, as well as most OmniRide Metro Express routes. Just in time for spring cleaning\, Supervisor Boddye is partnering with Prince William County Public Works to bring dumpsters to Lake Ridge\, making it convenient to dispose of old furniture\, yard waste\, and non-hazardous items. We’ll also accept glass recycling (cleaned bottles and jars)\, and items that are “too good to toss” through B-Thrifty’s “Project B Green.” Plus\, we will have paper shredding and we’re partnering with Rollingwood Village to host a community cleanup. \nNo registration is required for Dumpster Day. Just show up with your unwanted items and we’ll take care of the rest. If you wish to help with the cleanup\, register now to volunteer.
