SUMMARY:Finance and Budget Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:At its March 25\, 2025\, meeting\, the Finance and Budget Committee appointed Supervisor Kenny Boddye to serve as Chair and Supervisor Tom Gordy as Vice Chair of the Committee. \nThe Prince William Board of County Supervisors Finance and Budget Committee (FBC) was established on February 4\, 2025\, via Res. No. 25-070\, as a standing committee of the whole Board. The creation of the FBC will provide members additional opportunities for in-depth analysis of the policies\, statutes\, ordinances\, and directives related to public financial management\, stewardship of taxpayer dollars\, and the development and growth of the county’s economy. \nThrough prepared presentations\, supporting background materials\, and comprehensive discussions\, the FBC will have the opportunity to receive information and focus on critical challenges of growing and diversifying the local tax base and economy consistent with the Principles of Sound Financial Management. \nKey topic areas of the FBC will include: 1) Financial Management Policy\, 2) Tax Policy\, 3) Budget Policy and Issues\, and 4) Long-term Capital Investment Issues and Policy. \nThe FBC will receive information and may make recommendations to the Board; the FBC shall not take action that binds the Board\, as the FBC will be acting as a separate and distinct public body and not be acting as the Board. \nAs the FBC is a separate public body\, meetings are subject to the open meetings requirement of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)\, and the records of the group are likewise subject to FOIA. \nMeetings will be held in the Board Chambers at the McCoart Administration Building\, unless otherwise noted. \nSee the Jan. 20 meeting agenda here. \nArchives can be found here. \nFor any questions please email ClerktoBOCS@pwcgov.org.

SUMMARY:Public Hearing: Old Bridge & Occoquan Roads Intersection Improvements
DESCRIPTION:To learn more about the project\, and to find a link to participate virtually\, go to the Department of Transportation Project Page\, and search “Old Bridge Road-Occoquan Road Intersection Improvements.” \n\nThe Prince William County Department of Transportation will conduct a Design Public Hearing for the Old Bridge Road (Rte. 641) and Occoquan Road (Rte. 253) Intersection Improvement project at Occoquan Elementary School from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday\, February 3\, 2022. The Project Team will make a formal presentation beginning at 6:30 PM and will answer questions for the duration of the meeting. You can participate in this hybrid event in-person (mask required) or virtually. Please watch for any event changes related to winter weather or the latest CDC COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. \nThe purpose of this public hearing is to ensure that the public is provided with an opportunity to both review and discuss the proposed improvements and potential impacts to the surrounding properties and to receive public feedback on the current design of this intersection safety improvement project. Project plans\, information regarding property impacts\, and right-of-way assistance information will be available at this public hearing and 30 days prior. A tentative project schedule will also be discussed at the meeting. This is a safety improvement project that includes geometric alterations to the existing alignment to improve sight distance and overall operational performance of the intersection. The reverse curve through the intersection will be removed. As part of these improvements\, two additional turn lanes will be implemented as well as ADA compliant facilities (curb ramps\, sidewalk\, refuge islands). \nBoth during and after the hearing\, there are several ways to submit comments\, which are due by Thursday\, Feb. 17:  \n\nWritten or verbal comments in person at the Design Public Hearing\nWritten comments via the chat feature of the virtual streaming\nTo the Project Manager: Ms. Sherry Djouharian\n\nBy Mail: Prince William County Department of Transportation Office 5 County Complex Court\, Suite 290\, Prince William\, VA 22192\nBy Email:  sdjouharian@pwcgov.org (Subject Line: Old Bridge Rd and Occoquan Rd Intersection Improvement”)

SUMMARY:Virtual Town Hall: Affordable Housing - What It Is\, Why It's Needed\, How We Get There
DESCRIPTION:Register Today! \n\nHousing is the missing ingredient to our region’s prosperity\, and the smartest investment we could make is to add it back in.\n\n\nPrince William is one of the few Northern Virginia jurisdictions to not have an affordable housing policies or funding. Now\, as the County updates its Comprehensive and Strategic Plans\, Supervisors Boddye and Franklin invite you to join them in a town hall on this important topic.\n\nA Community Foundation study of housing in the DC Metro region found critical gaps in housing affordability across jurisdictions and income levels. This has real economic and quality of life consequences for the community as a whole. “Without stable housing\, it is difficult for people to obtain economic security\, a quality education\, good health and employment\,” said Terri Lee Freeman\, president of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region.\n\nEven middle-income households working in fields such as education\, public safety and nursing can find themselves priced out of the market. It will take innovative policies and community collaboration to find a path forward.\n\nThe Supervisors will be joined by Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Housing Programs Manager Hillary Champan\, PWC Community Development Director Rebecca Horner and PWC Planning Director Parag Agrawal. Together\, the panel will take a local lens to this regional challenge\, welcoming audience input via chat. You can also submit your questions in advance during the registration process\, on Eventbrite.
