SUMMARY:Transportation Tuesday! Rt 28 Bypass Right of Way Process Informational Meeting
DESCRIPTION:In March\, the Prince William County Department of Transportation launched an event series called ‘Transportation Tuesday’ in an effort to establish a regular cadence to further discuss topics related to the Route 28 Bypass project in a more informal setting. These are short information sessions for the public to learn more about specific aspects of the Route 28 Bypass project. SUMMARY:Bike To Work Day
DESCRIPTION:Bike to Work Day\, scheduled for May 21 this year\, is meant to encourage people to consider an alternative way to travel that can help improve their health\, reduce traffic congestion\, conserve energy and improve air quality. \nBike to Work Day\, sponsored by the Washington Area Bicycle Association and Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments Commuter Connections Program\, is part of Bike to Work Month\, which is held in May each year. Bike to Work Month is intended to get people thinking about alternate travel outside of driving to work. \n \nLast year\, Bike to Work Day was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns\, but it is on this year\, with some restrictions in place at the 10 pit stops across Prince William County\, where cyclists can stop along their way to get t-shirts\, water bottles and snacks. People should show up at the pit stops with a mask on\, arrange check in times and maintain social distancing.  \nThe following is a list of pit stops in Prince William County\, hours of operation and contacts. \n\nDumfries at Town Hall Community Center\nHaymarket Bicycles\nManassas – George Mason University\nManassas – VRE Station\nRippon Landing VRE Station\nWoodbridge – Chinn Center (morning & afternoon)\nWoodbridge – VRE Station\n\nIn the United States\, the League of American Bicyclists is credited with starting the week-long observance and promoting celebrations in communities from coast to coast. Established in 1956\, National Bike Month started the observance that then created National Bike Week. \nIn the United Kingdom\, the first preliminary Bike Week was held in 1923\, and the tradition was born.
