SUMMARY:Free Suicide Prevention Training: Question\, Persuade\, Refer
DESCRIPTION:Question\, Persuade\, Refer (QPR)\nSuicide Prevention Training\nQPR stands for Question\, Persuade\, and Refer — the 3 simple yet powerful steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year\, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question\, persuade\, and refer someone to the help they need. Each year\, thousands of Americans\, like you\, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend\, colleague\, sibling\, or neighbor by becoming a part of the QPR life-saving network. \nQPR can be learned in our 90-minute Gatekeeper training course. Gatekeepers can be anyone including parents\, friends\, neighbors\, teachers\, ministers\, doctors\, nurses\, office supervisors\, police officers\, volunteer coaches\, youth organization leaders\, caseworkers\, firefighters\, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide. \nAs a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:\n• Recognize the warning signs of suicide\n• Ask tough questions and offer hope\n• Get help and save a life \nThe Community Services Behavioral Health Wellness Team is offering QPR trainings throughout the year to assist our residents in helping others and broaden our QPR Network across Greater Prince William. Now\, more than ever\, it is important to reach out to our friends\, family members\, neighbors\, and colleagues to engage in health promotion and suicide prevention conversations. \nPlease use the links below to register for an upcoming QPR training. \nTuesday\, May 11 at 6:00 pm\nhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJErd-yopz4tGdJeoQCYPHaeAcb4-tDQe7E7 \nMonday\, May 24 at 10:30 am\nhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJIqdO2sqjovGd0zwFpuws6_LlmQH9OVo-GE \nSaturday\, June 5 at 9:30 am\nhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0vce6gqzgrGNZWshjAG81wEK04NqaMi53d \nFriday\, June 11 at 1:00 pm\nhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYtd-mgqzopGdd2Q9CXgZIS80wQBAj8LJD7 \nWednesday\, June 23 at 4:30 pm\nhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0ucu2sqjwpEtyZyx92IlFUwpmKo81nouu6 \nThursday\, July 1 at 10:00 am\nhttps://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJApdO-pqT4tHd3Gb1tNL0zXGu50WPuTkq9T \nFor more information contact Heather Martinsen at 571-641-7019 or HMartinsen@pwcgov.org

SUMMARY:Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation Briefing Session/Training
DESCRIPTION:UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY \nINVITES THE PUBLIC \nSUNDAY\, APRIL 18 \n6:30p-8:30p \nTO A VIRTUAL TRAINING \nBASED ON \nKINGIAN 6 PRACTICES \n \n  \nWHAT IS KINGIAN NONVIOLENCE? \nKingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation is an approach to conflict and community leadership that offers values and methods useful for anyone who wants to use conflict constructively in their personal life\, in group settings\, or in community issues and building a reconciled world. \nKingian Nonviolence workshops are transformational experiences that have helped thousands of people around the world understand the depth of the philosophy of nonviolence and learn to begin to bring the practices into their lives and their work. Whether you are an organizer working for social change\, a teacher trying to change the culture of your school\, or simply an individual trying to deal with the conflicts in your personal life\, each person will walk away from our workshops with new skills and a new perspective. \nKingian Nonviolence is rooted in the philosophy and leadership of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and the leadership of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. The curriculum was codified by Rev. Dr. Bernard LaFayette\, Jr.\, and David Jehnsen\, both of whom served on Dr. King’s staff in the 1960s\, and who sought to make lessons and tools from the Kingian legacy and the Civil Rights Movement period available for\npeople to address today’s conflicts\, concerns\, and conditions. \nThis two-hour event via Zoom will provide an initial introduction to the Kingian Nonviolence approach. \nFacilitators: Matt Guynn\, director of organizing\, On Earth Peace; Pam Smith\, executive director\, Addie Wyatt Center for Nonviolence Training \nPlease email UnityInTheCommunity20100@gmail.com for more information and registration\n  \nClick on the link to REGISTER \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfLpRrbcuxhmgGmBQheRH0gXNIlh_d29Xjt-C-4j3sfNfXJFw/viewform?usp=pp_url
