SUMMARY:Walk with a Doc
DESCRIPTION:All Ages | Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center \nWalk with a Doc brings people together for a common purpose – taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle. Walking truly is the best medicine\, and we want to make it safe\, accessible\, and fun for everyone. Each Walk with a Doc event is led by a healthcare provider who spends a few minutes talking about a relevant health topic. The walks are also an incredible opportunity for community\nmembers to connect\, learn from each other\, and celebrate both similarities and differences. These social connections are critical for a long and healthy life. We commit to creating a space of belonging where community members from all backgrounds feel safe and respected. Walks meet at the front desk. These events are FREE\, though we do ask you to register in advance for a headcount prior to the scheduled dates. No rain dates available. \nRegister \n

SUMMARY:Senior Center Without Walls
DESCRIPTION:What is the Senior Center Without Walls?\nMission \nTo bring senior center-style programming\, resources\, and connection directly into the community\, ensuring no older adult is left behind. \nWho is Served \nOlder adults who face barriers to accessing traditional senior centers\, including those with mobility challenges\, transportation limitations\, health concerns\, or caregiving responsibilities. \nPrince William Area Agency on Aging has created a new and exciting opportunity by expanding our programs directly into neighborhoods\, where we can reach significantly more older adults who currently face barriers to participation. This approach aligns with national best practices in aging services and responds directly to community feedback. \nAging is actively reviewing potential community locations to host programming across the County. Programming will be phased in and continuously adjusted based on participation and community feedback. \nPrograms will be held at Veterans Memorial Park\, 14300 Veterans Drive\, Woodbridge\, VA 22191.

SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting: Harbor Drive Wellness Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate an incredible revitalization project\, at the Ribbon Cutting for Harbor Drive Wellness Park on June  4\, from 11 am to 1 pm. What had been an abandoned commuter lot is now a vibrant park featuring Prince William County’s first universally-accessible playground and fitness equipment designed to be enjoyed by residents of all ages and physical abilities. Guests are asked to park at Ebenezer Baptist Church (13020 Telegraph Road; map below)\, where PWC Police will direct pedestrian across Minnieville to the park. \nFestivities will include recreational activities led by Prince William County Department of Parks\, Recreation & Tourism and fun giveaways. You’ll also hear from some of the people involved in making the park a reality\, with remarks from Parks & Rec\, Kaiser Permanente (park sponsor)\, Supervisor Kenny Boddye and other community leaders. \nThe 2.5 acre park also features meadows\, a pollinator garden with interpretive signage\, programming and a one-mile paved trail that will connect pedestrians and cyclists to Kaiser’s new medical campus off Caton Hill and to the K9 Gunner Dog Park. Many of these planned features reflect community input gathered during an 18-month collaborative public design process funded by Kaiser. \n“With a walking trail\, plenty of open space\, and outdoor fitness equipment\, this new park will provide great fitness and recreational opportunities to Prince William residents\,” said Occoquan District Supervisor Kenny Boddye. “We appreciate Kaiser Permanente’s support in bringing this new park to fruition\, and to the members of County staff who have been working tirelessly on this project through these challenging times\, which have also underscored how parks can bring us together and enrich our lives.” \n**RAIN DATE Saturday\, June 11**

SUMMARY:Fix-It Fair: Bring Your Items in for Repair...FREE
DESCRIPTION:Don’t nix it; fix it! Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB) and the Prince William County Solid Waste Division are determined to help people rethink our throwaway culture\, as they host their second-annual Fix-It Fair\, 10 am to 4pm\, Oct. 9 at Central Library Makerspace at 8601 Mathis Ave.\, in Manassas. Appointments are required to have an item fixed\, and can be made under the “Events” tab at www.KPWB.org. \n“It’s a fair where people can bring in personal items in need of repair– anything from bicycles to jewelry to clothing to furniture to small electronics\, and we have fixers\, volunteers from the community\, who come in and fix these items\,” said Keep Prince William Beautiful Executive Director Rico Fleshman. He added that the fair is a tangible way to encourage residents to maintain and retain useful items rather than throwing them away. \nFleshman said it makes sense to repair items that can be fixed\, keeping them out of the landfill\, conserving resources that go into making replacement items\, and saving residents money. “It’s almost like recycling those items. We recycle our plastic bottles. We recycle cans and goods like that. It makes sense for as a sustainability measure for people to do that in their personal lives. We’re all about the advocacy of that for the long term.”
