As Presiding Coordinator to ORMA\, and board member to many other organizations associated with our waterways\, Pat cheerfully volunteered countless hours of her time throughout the years and her passion for the water was contagious. Please help us celebrate her wonderful life by participating in this event.\n\nThe Blessing of the Fleet is a centuries-old tradition where receiving a blessing from the local Clergy was meant to ensure a safe and bountiful season. This year\, to celebrate Pat’s colorful spirit\, we are highly encouraging everyone to decorate their boats for the event.\n\nSCHEDULE:\nOn May 15th\, first responder boats will pass Belmont Bay Harbor Marina at approximately 9:30am\, heading upriver\, toward the Town of Occoquan. At approximately 10am\, the first responder boats will turn around near the Occoquan Town Dock and begin heading back downriver\, toward Belmont Bay Harbor Marina. The fire boat will lead the group\, spraying a spectacular Water Salute for all to enjoy! Interested spectators can view first responder boats from land at Town of Occoquan’s dock at Mamie Davis Park\, from the shores of Occoquan Park\, as well as many restaurants/marinas along the Occoquan River.\n\nBOATER PARTICIPATION:\n\nAll boats can be blessed simply by passing the ORMA blessing boat\, Rhumb Line\, docked at Belmont Bay Harbor Marina during the event hours. FOR PRIZE ELIGIBILITY\, boats must be registered for the event through the SIGN IN button on the ORMA Facebook page before midnight on May 14\, 2021 ***AND*** participation must be validated by ORMA as having passed the blessing boat during the event hours.\n\nDIGNITARY PARTICIPATION:\n\nRepresentatives from the Town of Occoquan\, Prince William and Fairfax Counties\, as well as VA State\, are invited to give their well wishes to boaters as they pass the Blessing boat.\n\n*** PRIZES ***\nDecorated boats that are registered have an opportunity to win boat fuel gift cards; $500 for 1st place from Prince William Marina; $300 for 2nd place from Belmont Bay Harbor Marina\, and $200 for 3rd place from Occoquan Harbor Marina. Additional prizes include two $100 boat fuel gift cards from Hoffmaster’s Marina\, as well as gift cards from restaurants\, salons\, pet stores\, and more! DESCRIPTION:The Ellis’ Magnificent Garden \n10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; $7 per person\, children under six free \nWade and Dessie Ellis’ ‘country home’ Rippon Lodge was featured in Virginia’s Historic Garden Week from the late 20’s to the late 40’s.  Visit Rippon Lodge for this socially-distanced outdoor program with staff and the modern day gardeners that make the lovely landscaped surroundings possible to learn more about how the outdoor landscape has evolved from a tobacco plantation into a public park! \nThis program is approximately 90 minutes and will involve outdoor walking over uneven terrain. Tour will begin on the front porch of the 1747 Lodge down the paved walkway from the parking lot. DESCRIPTION:Come experience the national parks! This includes Prince William Forest Park and Manassas National Battlefield Park! On six days in 2021\, all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone. Mark your calendar for these entrance fee–free dates in 2021: \n\nJanuary 18: Birthday of Martin Luther King\, Jr.\nApril 17: First day of National Park Week\nAugust 4: One year anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act\nAugust 25: National Park Service Birthday\nSeptember 25: National Public Lands Day\nNovember 11: Veterans Day\n\nNational parks are America’s best idea\, and there are more than 400 parks available to everyone\, every day. The fee-free days provide a great opportunity to visit a new place or an old favorite\, especially one of the national parks that normally charge an entrance fee. The others are free all the time. The entrance fee waiver for fee-free days does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping\, boat launches\, transportation\, or special tours. \nThe annual $80 America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass allows unlimited entrance to more than 2\,000 federal recreation areas\, including all national parks that normally charge an entrance fee. There are also free or discounted passes available for senior citizens\, current members of the military\, families of fourth-grade students\, and disabled citizens. DESCRIPTION:The weather may be frightful\, but a clean community is delightful!  \nRollingwood Village residents (and anybody who wants to beautify our community) are invited to join their neighbors and lead by example during a socially-distanced Community Cleanup. Just RSVP and everything you need will be ready at the check-in table: Keep Prince William Beautiful will provide all supplies–including gloves\, vests\, bags\, sanitizer and trash pickers–and Supervisor Boddye will have coffee and snacks for volunteers. Please bring your own reusable water bottle to use at KPWB’s refill station.  \nWe will meet at Rollingwood Village Park. Registration is staggered to promote distancing; your check-in time will be provided ahead of the event\, which runs from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. SUMMARY:The Band of the Nation’s Capital Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Band of the Nation’s Capital is a unit of the District of Columbia Army National Guard. The band boasts a proud lineage going back to the organizational lineage and association with the legendary Corcoran Cadets\, the DC militia that inspired John Philip Sousa to compose his march of the same name. Noteworthy performances include musical support for the Inauguration of President Obama\, performances in Greece\, Jamaica\, the US Virgin Islands and Panama\, consecutive appearances at the Great American Brass Band Festival and concert tours throughout New England\, Texas and the Mid-Atlantic. Although centrally located among the finest military bands in the world\, The 257th Army Band is officially recognized as “The Band of the Nation’s Capital”.
