This approach aligns with national best practices in aging services and responds directly to community feedback. \nAging is actively reviewing potential community locations to host programming across the County. Programming will be phased in and continuously adjusted based on participation and community feedback.

SUMMARY:Preventing Problem Gaming and Gambling
DESCRIPTION:ARE YOU GAMBLING WITH YOUR FUTURE? \nGaming can be fun\, but it can also be risky. Although video games may seem harmless\, the risks aren’t. It’s important to recognize if gaming or gambling is starting to interfere with your life. \nAttend a virtual one-hour workshop to learn more about how to keep gaming fun and to increase your knowledge about its connection to youth gambling. \nWho Should Attend: \n• Youth \n• Parents/Caregivers \n• Youth Serving Professionals \n• Anyone interested in learning more! \nQuestions? Contact Wendy Hunt at whunt@pwcgov.org or (703) 792-3837 \nRegistration can be found here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/cMtd4lRGTXqu5DOKix1f4w

SUMMARY:Senior Center Without Walls
DESCRIPTION:What is the Senior Center Without Walls?\nMission \nTo bring senior center-style programming\, resources\, and connection directly into the community\, ensuring no older adult is left behind. \nWho is Served \nOlder adults who face barriers to accessing traditional senior centers\, including those with mobility challenges\, transportation limitations\, health concerns\, or caregiving responsibilities. \nPrince William Area Agency on Aging has created a new and exciting opportunity by expanding programs directly into neighborhoods\, where they can reach significantly more older adults who currently face barriers to participation. This approach aligns with national best practices in aging services and responds directly to community feedback. \nAging is actively reviewing potential community locations to host programming across the County. Programming will be phased in and continuously adjusted based on participation and community feedback.

SUMMARY:QPR - Suicide Awareness and Gatekeeper Training (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:QPR stands for Question\, Persuade\, and Refer — the 3 simple yet powerful steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. \nQPR stands for Question\, Persuade\, and Refer — the 3 simple yet powerful steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year\, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question\, persuade\, and refer someone to the help they need. Each year\, thousands of Americans\, like you\, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend\, colleague\, sibling\, or neighbor by becoming a part of the QPR life-saving network. \nQPR can be learned in our 90-minute Gatekeeper training course. Gatekeepers can be anyone including parents\, friends\, neighbors\, teachers\, ministers\, doctors\, nurses\, office supervisors\, police officers\, volunteer coaches\, youth organization leaders\, caseworkers\, firefighters\, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide. \nAs a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to: \n• Recognize the warning signs of suicide \n• Ask tough questions and offer hope \n• Get help and save a life \nThe Community Services Wellness and Prevention Team is offering QPR training throughout the year to assist our residents in helping others and broaden our QPR Network across Greater Prince William. Now\, more than ever\, it is important to reach out to our friends\, family members\, neighbors\, and colleagues to engage in health promotion and suicide prevention conversations. \n  \nQuestions?
