You may have wondered: “When will Chinn Park Library return to full service?” Recently, I sat down with library staff, the Friends of Chinn Park Library, and our Fleet & Facilities team to ask just that, and came away even more excited for Chinn’s next chapter. When the main level reopens January 2027, Chinn will be an even stronger resource for our community. Get ready for these new or improved features:
- Makerspace: Innovate with creative tools and technology to learn a new skill, explore a hobby, or develop a business idea.
Calibrate Small Business Resource Center: New entrepreneurs can connect with education, mentorship, and hands-on support as they start or grow a business. - Expanded MAGIC (Management and Government Information Center): Increased database access for small businesses to retrieve market and industry information.
- 3 New Study Rooms + Dedicated Quiet Room: More peaceful places to focus or collaborate.
While renovations are taking a little longer than anticipated, I am confident these new offerings will be worth the wait. In the meantime, core library services remain available in the building’s lower level at the “Chinn Park ASC Library,” open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM. There, you’ll find books, computers, Wi-Fi, holds pickup, and more. If you need a full-service branch, Tackett’s Mill Library and Potomac Community Library are two great nearby options.
In Prince William County, our libraries have always been about more than books. They bring neighbors together to spark curiosity, nurture creativity, be entertained, explore our past, and bring ideas to life. This renovation builds on those traditions, bringing exciting new features to the community hub we know and love.
