Middle-Income and First-Time Home Buyer Housing Needs of Northern Virginia: Examining the Extent of the Problem – Creating Solutions Symposium
The symposium is the second event in a two-part series. The first event was a webinar held on March 31, 2025, that provided a “sneak preview” to the symposium. The Northern Virginia Regional Commission recently published a migration report that illuminates the need for middle-income and first-time homebuyer housing. The webinar featured a presentation of the migration report’s findings, as well as presentations on affordable and attainable housing solutions and financing available for the region today.
The symposium event provides the opportunity for regional leaders, planners, and advocates to discuss the demographic and economic challenges of our region uncovered in the migration report and to work together to find additional housing solutions to lead to an economically resilient community that remains competitive with more affordable regions of the country.
The symposium will bring together elected officials, non-profits, economic and housing industry professionals, policy and planning experts, and housing advocates to collaborate on regional solutions to create more attainable housing and housing opportunities for middle-income and first-time home buyers.
