Town of Occoquan: Contact-Free Food Drive

May 16 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Occoquan District Supervisor Boddye will be joining Town of Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta for the town’s third “Contact-free Food Drive,” this Saturday May 16, 10am-12pm! Your donations of nonperishable food items, personal care products or gift cards will be given to The Good News Community Kitchen and ACTS to help those families who are hardest hit by the pandemic. In April, your generous support DOUBLED their supplies!

The most-needed items are are jelly, hot and cold cereal, rice, soup, tomatoes (sauced/diced/crushed), and beans and vegetables (frozen/canned/bagged ). This event is set up to minimize risk to you and our volunteers. Drive to the end of Mill Street, and either:

  • Put bags on the ground near donation station, then volunteers will retrieve your donation after you are back in your car.
  • Unlock or pop your trunk, and instruct volunteers to retrieve items.

Our volunteers will also be masked and practicing appropriate physical distancing. If you wish to take a picture to help promote the drive, please put on a mask before approaching the donation area and maintain at least 10 feet of distance from others. Better yet, take a picture from the safety of your car, demonstrating this novel way of giving in these unusual times.
