Social Anxiety in children is among the most common form of anxiety, a normal reaction to stress. Too much anxiety becomes distress and opens the door to Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs), and ultimately panic attacks and other forms of anxiety disorders. This workshop will provide participants with an understanding of anxiety, demonstrating cognitive therapy and directive play interventions for children and adolescents. In the face of COVID-19, a surge of cases of anxiety is expected, requiring creativity and innovation. Sonia Hinds, APRN/PMH-BC, RPT-S, is an advanced practice Nurse Psycho-Therapist and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. She has been providing therapy to children and families for over 30 years in Southern Maryland.
