Whether you’re planning a family outing, looking for a little adventure, or simply hoping to try something different, there’s an activity waiting for you. Check out these 10 things to do this month with Prince William County Parks.

Visit the Dale City Farmers Market – Sundays through November, 8 am – 1 pm
Take a stroll through the wonderful Dale City Farmers Market this fall. The market is a producer-only market, meaning all products must be grown or made by the seller. This is great news for both buyers and sellers as consumers have access to produce, meats, plants and other goods locally grown or created. Since 1987, Dale City Farmers Market has been at the forefront of serving Prince William County residents. With 30+ vendors in the winter and nearly 50 vendors in the summer, it is one of the largest open-air markets in the region.

Go for a Hike
National Take a Hike Day is Nov. 17, making it the perfect time to get outside and explore! Prince William County Parks offers numerous trails where you can enjoy all the beautiful colors of fall. There are also many health benefits you can experience from hiking. Hiking can help you build stronger muscles and bones, as well as improve your sense of balance. Being in nature can also boost your mood. According to a study done by researchers at Stanford University, spending quality time in the great outdoors reduces stress, calms anxiety and can lead to a lower risk of depression. Not sure where to start? Check out some trail recommendations and be sure to download the PWC RecMapper app where you can view photos and trail information such as trails lengths, surface type, map routes and more. The app allows you to view amenities by map or list; filter and search what’s important to you; or get directions and map out your route.
