Statement on Judge Irving’s Ruling

PW Digital Gateway Maps from Planning Department Staff Report July 20 2021

Earlier this month, Judge Kimberly Irving issued her ruling in the Oak Valley HOA lawsuit regarding the Digital Gateway, voiding the Prince William County Board of Supervisors’ vote approving the rezonings.

The Board is in recess this month and has not taken any action related to the ruling. The County Attorney filed two routine procedural motions, one to clarify the ruling, the other to stay (pause) it until the Board reconvenes on September 9.

During that meeting, the Board will meet with our legal counsel in closed session to receive confidential legal advice, enabling Supervisors to make a fully informed decision on how to proceed in this case. While I cannot comment further on active litigation, I wanted to assure residents that no Board action will be taken ahead of that time.I remain committed to ensuring our community has access to clear and accurate information throughout this process. As we move forward, my focus will remain on transparency, fairness, and making decisions in the best interest of the public.
