On November 17, the Boards of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and Metro Forward (WMATA) voted to adopt the DMVMoves Plan – a unified blueprint to stabilize Metro’s capital needs, improve bus service, and create a more seamless transit system across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Supervisor Boddye attended the meeting as an alternate on behalf of Prince William County.
“I’m encouraged by what this means for our commuters and families,” he said.
DMVMoves sets the foundation for:
- Modern, reliable Metro service
- A regional bus priority network that gets buses out of traffic
- The future of Virginia Railway Express and regional rail, strengthened by Long Bridge expansion
- More consistent fares and easier transfers
- Better coordination across the region’s 14 transit operators, including Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (Omniride)
“For outer Northern Virginia communities like ours – where commutes are long and congestion is intense – this plan has the potential to give us tools we’ve never had before to build a faster, safer, and more connected mobility network,” said Boddye. “This is just the first step, but it’s a significant one. Millions across the region are counting on us to follow through, and I’m committed to ensuring Prince William County has a strong voice at the table as implementation begins.”
