Budget

“Budget Season” kicks off in February, when the CXO presents the Board with a proposed budget, and ends with adoption in late April. In between come months of analysis and public discussion as Supervisors work to craft a budget that meets community needs in a fiscally responsible manner. Public input is vital to the process, through engagement opportunities such as public hearings, an online Q&A portal, and Budget Town Halls.

After all, our budget is more than just dollars and cents—it’s a reflection of our collective vision for the future of Prince William. Education is always a cornerstone, with 57.5% of general funds directed to Prince William County Public Schools under the Revenue Sharing Agreement. The remaining resources enhance quality of life across our community with investments in services such as public safety, transportation infrastructure, neighborhood services, economic development efforts, and parks and trails.
