Proposed Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Released

Proposed Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Released

The County Executive has released the proposed Capital Improvement Program (CIP) — basically our long-range plan for big investments like public safety, courts, parks, and infrastructure.
This isn’t the day-to-day operating budget. It’s the “what are we building or fixing over the next several years” plan.

A few things I’m paying close attention to:

Countywide highlights
• Upgrades to public safety communications at schools
• Juvenile Services Center improvements/expansion (overdue facility upgrades that support rehabilitation and safer, more functional space)
• Judicial Center investments (including modernization like courtroom A/V and long-term expansion planning)
• Mobility + pedestrian safety projects that help make roads safer over time
• Continued reinvestment in parks and facilities
Occoquan District (Lake Ridge / Occoquan area)
• Station 29 (Lake Ridge) — NEW in FY29 — $33.0M. This is a major planned investment in fire & rescue service in our district.
• Charlie Boone Park development funding (Occoquan)
• Continued greenway/connection work where it makes sense

If you’ve been asking “what’s the plan for transit, roads, safety, and the basics,” this is where it lives:
