There’s Still Time! 2020 Census Deadline Extended

If you have not completed the 2020 census, you now have until October 31—either online at my2020census.gov or by phone at (844) 330-2020. Simply by taking this brief survey, you will bring your community over $2,000 in federal funding each year through 2030, funding services that make our community a better place to live, work and learn. These funds go directly to schools, highway construction, housing assistance, Medicare, Medicaid Part B, emergency services and more.

An accurate count is important for other reasons: Census data is used to determine how many representatives Virginia has in Congress. A proper count allows for our community to receive adequate representation at the federal level. Additionally, Prince William uses census data to make decisions on education, land use, community services and other policies that impact daily live in the County, and businesses rely on the data for choices on where to locate or expand.

The Census Bureau is legally bound to protect responses; your information is 100% confidential. Bureau employees are committed to privacy and obtaining a complete count of communities. If somebody comes to your door to your home to obtain information about your household, ensure that they are with the Census by asking to see their U.S. Department of Commerce identification badge and U.S. Census Bureau materials. A census worker will never ask for your social security number or bank account information. When in doubt, simply rely on the online or phone methods for completing the Census.

The Census is available in 13 languages. There are also guides available in 59 languages and for those with special needs at 2020census.gov/ways-to-respond. Complete the 2020 census before October 31, and help shape the future of your community.
