Volunteer Prince William just sent out the following plea for volunteers to help meet the growing need for collection, distribution and delivery for the Community Feeding Taskforce. The most urgent need is mornings. The busiest days are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday:
We very rarely reach out to all of our registered volunteers to highlight a need, but these are unprecedented times. Many of our neighbors are in great need of assistance today to put food on the table for their families. To combat this growing hardship, Prince William County and the cities of Manassas Park and Manassas have come together with many local nonprofits to create the Community Feeding Taskforce. A central warehouse has been created in the City of Manassas where large deliveries of food are broken down and transported to 45 food pantries for distribution in our communities.
In order to move this amount of food to the various pantries, the taskforce needs 30 volunteers every week at the warehouse and anticipates this effort to continue well into the fall. We need your help to feed our neighbors and friends. The warehouse is open from Monday through Friday with two volunteer shifts available; 8am to noon and noon to 4pm.
If you are healthy, can lift up to 50 pounds, are between the ages of 18 and 55 and do not have underlying medical conditions that would place you at high risk, please consider volunteering. We are grateful for 1 shift or multiple shifts as you see fit.
To volunteer, please Click Here . When you respond to the form, please include any particular day(s), date(s) or shift you prefer and we will reach out to you with the details.
We thank you for your continued support. Please stay safe. We look forward to celebrating with you, our friends and neighbors, when this crisis has passed.
