New Animal Shelter Welcomes Furry Residents Next Week

A message from Supervisor Boddye:

I remember joining a Prince William SPCA-led postcard writing campaign in 2017, asking my predecessor on the Board to advocate for a new animal shelter which to provide animals and the staff who care for them with the healthy environment they deserve. The previous board eventually moved forward with a plan.

Last year, after delays and a series of bad cost estimates, I joined my fellow Board members in committing the resources necessary to get the project back on track. We asked hard questions and plotted a way forward.

Soon enough, we’ll have made good on the promises of those who came before us, as the first furry residents move into the new Prince William County Animal Shelter next week. (Read more in this Prince William Times piece.) Thank you to all of the community members who kept this issue front-and-center over a period of years, never losing hope or their passion for protecting animals.

We know your dedication continues–the shelter reached its fundraising goal for new beds in just one day! The public can help to supply additional items that would further improve conditions for shelter animals; learn more. .
