Community Leaders Meet with Senator Warner to Discuss Housing Challenges & Solutions

Prince William County leaders and housing advocates meet with Senator Mark Warner to discuss housing solutions

A huge thank you to Senator Mark Warner for joining Prince William County, Virginia stakeholders – including County elected officials and staff, LIHTC developers, faith leaders, and nonprofit advocates –  for 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 for everybody who seeks to live and work in our community.

Held at the GMU Potomac Science Center, in a transit-rich area that could benefit from housing at mixed pricing levels, the 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 (𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗹𝘆-𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱), 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. I emphasized that 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 must 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, like transit and education, that support growing communities like ours. Thank you to Chair Deshundra Jefferson for organizing this event and to all of the community members who spent their afternoon with us. It was standing-room only! I look forward to continuing the conversations that started on Friday. While Prince William has made unprecedented progress on the issue in the last 4 years, we still have much further to go. I hope you will join me on that journey.
