Joint Annual Transit Legislative Forum

Joint Annual Transit Legislative Forum

Monday, I joined regional leaders, transit agencies, and local officials from across Northern Virginia at the Joint Annual Transit Legislative Forum. These conversations matter. Transit isn’t an abstract policy talking point. It’s about whether people can get to work, school, medical appointments, and home without spending hours stuck in traffic. It’s also about whether people can navigate these daily routines without a car, whether by choice or due to financial need. While we need an “all of the above” approach to tackling the region’s traffic woes, this forum made clear that:

• Transit reduces congestion
• Transit connects people to jobs and opportunity
• Transit is a key driver of economic competitiveness

As Prince William County continues to grow, the choices we make about housing, redevelopment, and transportation must move together. You can’t solve affordability without addressing how people move, and you can’t talk about quality of life without reliable, well-funded transit. Grateful to Northern Virginia Transportation Commission, Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission, Virginia Railway Express, and all of the regional partners working to keep Northern Virginia moving.
