Supervisor Boddye Hosting Community Safety Town Hall, Aug. 10

Aug. 10 Town Hall Features County Safety Professionals & Public Forum

Prince William County Supervisor Kenny Boddye (Occoquan District) will host a Community Safety Town Hall on August 10, 2023, at Chinn Park Regional Library.  Doors open at 6:00 pm, and the program will run from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This free event provides an overview of the County’s new Community Safety Initiative, which takes a data-driven, comprehensive approach to crime prevention and reduction. It will also feature a panel of professionals tasked with various components of public safety, discussing trends, challenges and strategies within their agencies:

  • PWC Deputy County Executive Dan Alexander
  • PWC Police Chief Peter Newsham
  • PWC Fire Chief Thomas LaBelle
  • PWC Office of Community Safety Director Wesley Dawson
  • PWC Public Safety Communications Center Director Michele Surdham
  • PWCS Risk Management and Security Director Ron Crowe

“Whether in my role as an elected official, or as a father raising his family in Lake Ridge, keeping our neighborhoods safe is of paramount concern,” said Boddye. “This Town Hall will be a comprehensive discussion representing many aspects of community safety, from the more proactive approach of the County’s new initiative to the people keeping our schools secure and patrolling our neighborhoods every day. I look forward to this dialogue with our public safety professionals and Occoquan District community members.”

Following the panel discussion, Supervisor Boddye will open the floor for audience questions and feedback. Registration is available at https://occoq.org/safety_th.
